As things go with the weather, especially snowstorms and hurricanes, things can change as newer models get fed fresh information, especially around 72 hours. That’s when the short-term models start predicting. Yesterday the forecast everywhere was for a hard slam on Sunday, 2 inches + with heavy winds. Today, the short-term model shows just a little rain and lighter winds as the hurricane misses us to the west and the east. The other main model still shows 2 inches+. But there’s some hope. There will be a dry slot. Just don’t know where it’ll be yet. The NWS official forecast (very bottom) says 1-2 inches, but the top two images show you what the models are actually thinking. This is the total precipitation for the storm. Looks like they haven’t spoken to each other.
I marked Virginia Beach on this precipitation map. What a difference 24 hours makes! Don’t make outdoor plans just yet. Let’s see what the next 24-48 hours bring. Hope that Columbus Day Soccer Tournament remains dry. I’m tired of getting soaked.
FYI: How to Pronounce ISAIAS: CLICK HERE (ee-SAH-ee-ahs) TO HEAR
In Spanish, the name has four syllables, with the emphasis on the second syllable. It’s the Spanish form of Isaiah. I still can’t say it correctly, even after hearing it.
